Skladba vyšla ako súčasť albumu "Late Night Betty" v roku 2000 na vydavateľstve Geisha Boy Records. Album obsahuje 12 skladieb."Cuéntame Que Te Pasó" je v tracklistu označená ako 14. skladba s anglickým podtitulom "[Tell Me What Happened to You]".​​

Kompozícia kombinuje latinské rytmy s americkým popom a predstavuje verziu pôvodnej skladby "The Speak Up Mambo" (známej tiež ako "Cuéntame Que Te Pasó"), ktorú v roku 1958 vytvoril kubánsky skladateľ a tanečník Al Castellanos.

Informácie o umelcovi

Pepe Raphael, vedúca postava skupiny Pepe & The Bottle Blondes, sa narodil v Madride v Španielsku. Svoju performančnú kariéru začal s Národným baletom Španielska a ako tanečník pôsobil v baletných súboroch Ballet Hispanico of New York, baletných spoločnostiach New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Ballet Tacoma a Oregon Ballet Theatre.​

V roku 1995 založil Pepe & The Bottle Blondes s cieľom obnoviť štýl "Copacabana" dinner theater doplnený kostýmami. Pred vytvorením vlastnej skupiny bol v rokoch 1994-1998 hlavným mužským vokalistom legendárnej portlandskej skupiny Pink Martini, kde účinkoval na ich debutovom albume "Sympathique" z roku 1997. V Pink Martini spolupracoval na skladbe "La Soledad", ktorú spolu napísal s Thomasom Lauderdalom a inšpiroval sa Chopinovou tvorbou.​​
